Where you can play sweepstakes slots in the USA
Sweepstakes play reaches most of the United States. The exceptions are consistent enough to fit on one page.
Where casinos will not take you
| State | Status | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Washington | Out almost everywhere | State law treats online gaming, promotional play included, unusually strictly |
| Idaho | Out almost everywhere | Sweepstakes rules read as covering the two-currency model |
| Michigan | Out at several casinos | Regulated real-money market; casinos withdrew rather than test the overlap |
| Nevada | Out at several casinos | Gaming law and licensing exposure |
| Montana | Out at some casinos | Narrow definition of permitted promotions |
States that allow sweepstakes play
Outside those five, sweepstakes play is generally open to adults who meet the casino’s age requirement, eighteen at most, twenty-one at some. Availability is set casino by casino rather than by any central register, so two casinos can take opposite views of the same state.
Prizes are taxable income. Casinos issue a 1099-MISC above the federal reporting threshold and state treatment varies. We are not tax advisers and this is not tax advice; a large payout is worth a conversation with someone who is.
If you travel, location is usually checked at login rather than at signup. Playing from an excluded state on a trip can freeze an account mid-payout.
State restrictions explained
A refusal at registration comes from one of two places, and knowing which one you are looking at decides whether trying again is worth your time.
A small number of states treat promotional sweepstakes with casino games as regulated gambling, or carry consumer rules that make the model unworkable. Where that applies no casino will accept you and a second attempt elsewhere will go the same way.
More often it is the operator being cautious. A legal team reads an unclear statute strictly, the state goes on a blocklist, and a competitor two doors down accepts the same state happily. That is why answers differ between casinos in the same week.
So try one more before you conclude anything. The eighteen casinos on this site do not share a blocklist and plenty of players end up with accounts at some but not all of them.
Four things to get right at signup
- Use your real address
Registration will often accept a false one. The identity check will not, and that check lands at exactly the moment you have coins worth redeeming.
- No VPN, ever
Location tools flag them and a flagged account closes with the balance inside. No casino here makes exceptions for good intentions.
- Update details when you move
An address that no longer matches your documents is the most common reason a first redemption sits for days.
- Re-check on the day you join
State availability moves in both directions without announcement. The casino terms page on the day is the only version that binds anybody.
